I’m excited about our conference schedule on Saturday because it is really special! We are taking a bus up the mountain to Central City, an old mining town that that is still beautifully intact. Cornish miners built an Opera House in 1878, and the Central City Opera Company presents an amazing season there every summer. We’re seeing Gian Carlo Menotti‘s The Saint of Bleecker Street Saturday evening.
We are heading first to one of the many restored 100+ year old buildings which now serves as the Rehearsal Center. Pat Pearce, their General Director and Catherine Malfitano, who is directing The Saint of Bleecker Street, are meeting us there to share some of the season’s facts and fun.
Cocktails and conversation are in the Johnson House, another 100+ year old structure. Afterwards, we move across the street for dinner in the famous Teller House which in 1872 was the first hotel west of
the Mississippi. The original, famous “Face on the Bar Room Floor” still exists there.

And as if all this isn’t enough, we cap the day off with an intimate Opening Night performance of The Saint of Bleecker Street in a 552 seat, 129 year old opera house! I think I’ll sleep on the bus back down to Denver.
